Mr Hood, I took this from your other posting site and posted it here.
Just leaving this here.
Even after 40 years, New York State Police and area law enforcement agencies around Cobleskill have not given up their efforts in solving a murder of a State University College at Cobleskill student, Katherine Kolodziej. Tips continue to come in, although slowly, keeping investigators confident that something will break in the case.
The last time Katherine Kolodziej, 17, was seen alive was as she was leaving the Vault Bar and Grill in Cobleskill around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 1974. Police said she apparently declined offers from friends for a ride to the campus, and theorize that she accepted a ride afterward from a driver of a yellow Volkswagen sedan. The Vault, once found at the corner of Main and North Grand streets, is now an office.
An intense search by area law agencies, college security and about 100 volunteers soon began. At one point, troopers set up a six-man, three-car roadblock in front of The Vault exactly one week after Kolodziej’s disappearance, in hopes of learning anything from motorists who may have been traveling on state Route 7 on Nov. 2. The search and wide publicity in regional newspaper publications proved to be fruitless in obtaining new tips or clues.
Investigators interviewed the entire student body at Cobleskill, as well as Volkswagen Beetle owners in the area.
Nothing new was learned until Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, when an unidentified hunter in the Cross Hill area of Richmondville discovered a “red cloth” in the distance while using binoculars to spot deer, according to The Daily Star. The hunter knew about the search, as Kolodziej was last seen wearing a red jacket. The state police were contacted, and about a quarter mile from that location an imitation blue suede shoe, similar to hers, was also found. The search finally found the body in a wooded area about 300 feet from McDonald Road, about two miles southeast of the village.
An autopsy at Albany Medical Center found that Kolodziej had died of multiple stab wounds.
A freshman at Cobleskill, Kolodziej had only been in the area for about 60 days. She was studying veterinary science. She was described as “quiet and responsible” by collegians who said she had never left her dormitory without notifying other students of her destination.
The investigation soon turned into months and years, still with no solid lead to Kolodziej’s killer. At times convicted serial killers Theodore “Ted” Bundy and Lewis Lent were questioned about the case, but were ruled out as suspects.
State Police Investigator Tom Cioffi, the case agent, said within the last two years some follow-up leads have taken investigators to Long Island, as Kolodziej was from Ronkonkoma. Other interviews have been conducted in Newburgh, Western New York and Pennsylvania.
“Unfortunately we haven’t had a break in the case,” Cioffi said on Wednesday. “These people knew Kathy in college, but we haven’t been able to develop a suspect or make an arrest.”
In 2012 when a large billboard on state Route 7 east of Cobleskill displayed Kolodziej’s picture and sought information from the public, Cioffi said several new tips were obtained.
Keeping the case in the public eye is important, Cioffi said. On Sunday, Nov. 2, some of Kolodziej’s relatives came to the Cobleskill area to talk about the case. They were taken to McDonald Road where they placed a memorial wreath at the site of the 1974 discovery. Both of her parents have since passed away, and the relatives still hold hope of solving the murder case.
Cioffi says anyone can leave an anonymous tip with the State Police by calling (518) 234-3131, or by visiting the “Unsolved Homicide of Katherine Kolodziej” Facebook page, through Crime Stoppers.

I'm struck by similarities to the Alphabet Murders in Rochester, NY from 1971 to 1973.
2 of the victims in those 3 murders disappeared in November.
First and Last initials match.
I assume this has been thoroughly investigated and ruled out.
