He was last seen Dec. 16, 1977, hitchhiking along Route 173 after withdrawing $10 for Christmas presents from the McHenry Savings and Loan at the corner of Routes 12 and 173 in Richmond. He was supposed to be on his way to a friend’s house, but his body was found the next day at the end of a long residential driveway off the old Highway 50, now Geneva Road. Edited to add Sexually molested. About a month later, Mayer received the phone call about the jacket, which directed police to English Prairie Cemetery. The tiny cemetery, on a road of the same name tucked between Wilmot and Richardson roads, is only a short distance southeast of where Carl was seen hitchhiking.
“We received a call from a person who said to go to the northwest corner of English Prairie Cemetery and we’d find the Green jacket Carl was wearing,” Mayer said. “It was right where he said it was.”
Mayer didn’t recognize the voice, and back then there was no phone call recording equipment at the station.

And the above article is for the Lover's Lane background of Garland Atkinson. Nice.

Does it seem like the introduction of the jacket was designed be a red herring? Maybe to add another compass point away from the locations which all seem to be in a straight line. There are just so many creepy people out there in the world. Read this page about the Lords of Bakersfield. How can people justify their own need for pleasure at the expense of anothers life? How can our systems of justice get so corrupt? earonsgsk.proboards.com/thread/1729/dana-charlene-butler-april-1979

I recognise a name there and it's not Barry Manilow. 'According to people close to Fritts at the time, then-Gov. Jerry Brown was known to have visited; so had then-Sen. Alan Cranston, presidential daughter Maureen Reagan and Randolph Duke, the clothing designer. Steve Perry and his mates from the rock band Journey stopped by. Actress Dyan Cannon once visited, using the occasion to pitch a movie project. Actress Sally Kellerman and columnist Ann Landers, who knew Fritts through the Hereditary Disease Foundation, were guests on separate occasions. Singer Barry Manilow showed up' Link www.bakersfield.com/Robert-Price/2006/02/10/The-Lords-of-Bakersfield.html

I don't know about you, but I have been to Bakersfield and Shafter. It is no destination that I would choose to visit or live. The nicest thing I can say about it, is there is a good Salvadorian restaurant in Buttonwillow.
