I havent much time for posting lately. I have come under siege by coyotes. I have been researching all of the above for catching some real predators. I bought a trail cam the other day $70 and that night, I caught the first glimpse of a coyote that has been killing my pets and livestock. Things would have been a lot different for ear if he had these items to contend with. I mapped out my place and chose the natural egress points to place these cameras and lights. The third and fourth picture was of this coyote. There must be more out there. Just to the left of where the coyote is, is where I keep my dogs during the day. I lost four full grown goats over the last two weeks. I was told by the wildlife dept that they can fit through a whole that is 6x6 inches. I dont know about that, but I do know that the goats they killed were big, and would have fit through the fence, and yet two of the goats were taken completely out of the 4ft tall fenced in pasture area. At first I thought we had a mountain lion. But so far only coyotes. I added a pic of the coyote. I bought a couple extra trail cams too. And placed them along the driveway, and in the front yard. I'm sorry to hear about your goats. They have so much personality. I'm sure you must be heartbroken with their loss.
Hopefully you will find a way to protect your livestock and the marauders will move on. Coyotes can climb fences too. I did not realize they could climb so well until I saw a video last year of one clearing a six foot yard fence in a suburb like it was nothing after it caught a cat.
We are so fortunate to live near these wild places but they are not always safe for our the creatures we love.

It's heartbreaking when animals are hunted, especially when you've come to know them and know how scared they must have been. I have CCTV and it's invaluable, one of my dogs knows how to monitor it and depending on what he sees he knows where to go and which direction to run. He almost got over a 9'6' fence recently in pursuit of what he deemed shouldn't have been there, I managed to haul him back over by a well timed rugby tackle on my part, he was pretty pissed off I'd stopped him. The other dog backs him up too, so if the one dog misses what he's after, the other follows right behind.

Thanks. I hope to get this problem in control soon. they are going to be having a sale on the motion sensors and I hope to buy a good deal of them. That might scare the coyotes away for awhile. At the least, it might help my animals know they are coming.

I went and checked the trail cams again. I found this pic. Dont know what it is. The cam has taken a great deal of pics. It looks to be about the size of raccoon or bobcat. But in the one pic there two of them.

Well wasn't EAR covered with cougar pee? Looks like we all have kindred neighborhoods. The one cat we had was gone in two weeks. The above looks like a bobcat--better that than a skunk.

Our driveway cam picked up a several deer, then a mountain lion days later. No more deer. Our deck cam is sharp enough to spot feral cats in love. I always wondered what that noise was.

I've no idea, I'm not familiar with any other animals mentioned above apart from cats and dogs, that first pic looks like a broad chested dog to me but that could be the speed it was turning, stretching the image out. EAR Cougar pee? Not heard that before.

It just keeps getting worse around here. That is a 4ft rattlesnake we caught on my property. Or we killed, I should say. And another good shot of the coyote I have been hunting. I heard a local rumor that during the bad floods we had a couple of years ago the local zoo lost many of their big cats. They said nobody talked about it but the cats escaped and their have been sightings of them now and then. I know of one time a few years ago a big cat killed a young child and the local LE went on a big search of the river areas but didnt find it. Something had to have been large enough to carry out two grown goats over the 4ft fence. Attachments:

Those slippers look like they've got a Rattlesnake skin pattern on 'em and I love the new spade complete with 'just bought stickers' still attached. Seriously though that's a big snake. I remember hearing a Lion roar while standing at the back door when I was about 12 years old. Our house was very close to a small Zoo and somebody had let some animals out during a break in. We had the biggest Bison stood next door in the field while they rounded them up, I'm not sure what the retired 25 year old Pit Pony who lived there made of it. The Lion was shot though, it sounded very close, guess they took no chances.

I know that would have been my first choice.

I see rattlesnakes fairly often when I'm out walking but they usually are not that large. It kind of make me sad when they are killed but I understand if you have animals or kids. I'd rather have a few snakes than a bunch of rodents.

In the last 20 odd years or so I've tried my best to release spiders, remove snails and relocate and try catching the odd rogue rat rather than destroying them but livestock need protecting. The Coyote, can't you trap it maybe and then release it say, up in the Olympic Peninsular area?
